In 2023, we first welcomed C and T* to our studio, where they crafted a pair of silver rings as a memorable date activity. Fast forward to a year later, and we were thrilled to have them return for a special engagement ring-making session.
Drawn to the beauty of Sapphires, the couple fell in love with the enchanting shades of Montana Sapphire. After exploring various stones, they chose one with soft pastel blues and transparent hues, evoking the serene beauty of a winter wonderland.
At our studio, we offer a variety of coloured gemstones. If you have something specific in mind, we’d be happy to curate a selection from our Japan Atelier for you to view and try on. Our goal is to help you find a piece that aligns with your preferences.
For the ring base, the couple personalized it with meaningful engravings to symbolize their love, went through steps like firing, sanding and texturing to incorporate their special touches. The ring, along with the chosen stone, were sent back to Japan, where our skilled craftsmen will refine the crown design and set the main stone. This process typically requires a lead time of 6 to 8 weeks following the class.

During the session, C & T started by selecting personalized engravings —letters and emojis — that made the band truly unique to their story.
After engraving, the next steps included soldering and sanding. The couple used a blowtorch to seal the ring, then gently sanded the surface to smooth out any scratches. A hammered texture was then applied, giving the ring added character and a shimmering effect that glistens under sunlight.
The session concluded with a heartwarming moment — a surprise proposal right here in the studio! It was an honor to witness this special milestone, as C & T celebrated their love story with KOBO.

Three months later, we welcomed C and T back for their wedding ring-making class. To complement their engagement rings, they selected 18K Champagne Gold for their wedding bands — a unique colour blend exclusively offered at KOBO. This warm, honey-toned hue provides a soft, elegant choice for couples who prefer a more understated, mellow look.
Moments during the wedding ring making session –
Having previously experienced the ring-making process, the couple chose to incorporate twist elements into their wedding bands. The twist design symbolizes eternal love and unity— representing a lifelong partnership that remains strong and continuous, no matter the challenges that arise.
The twist design, also known as the Mobius, often symbolizes infinity and unity, representing an eternal connection. In the context of wedding rings, a twisted band signifies the endless bond between two people, with no beginning or end — much like their love.
For an ornate look, double twists can represent two individuals coming together in a deeper, more intricate union. It symbolizes a relationship where both partners maintain their individuality while remaining intertwined in their shared journey.
Together, these designs embody not only the infinite nature of love but also the dynamic, evolving partnership that grows stronger over time.

A few insights from the couple:
- What inspired you to make your wedding bands together?
Her: “We attended the momo ring workshop, which we enjoyed so much that we knew we had to make our wedding bands together too!”
Him: “The idea of making each other’s wedding bands resonates with us. The steps in making a wedding band symbolises the various phases in our relationship. Wedding bands are the tokens of the vows that we made to each other and being able to make them with and for our partner makes the experience a special and memorable one.”
- What were the most memorable moments during your workshop sessions?
“Heating up the rounded bar to fuse the two ends. Seeing the two extreme ends of the bar fused under intense heat to form a circular ring mirrors the continuous bond between two individuals where there is no longer a beginning or an end in the relationship.”
- What was your favorite process of the workshop and why?
“Stamp engraving! It is a very engaging process, from thinking of the messages to engrave on each other’s band to admiring and sharing each other’s imperfect engravings. It resembles a phase in our relationship where we are comfortable sharing our own little imperfections with each other.”
- Any advice for those considering handmade rings?
Her: “Discuss with each other how you would like the bands to turn out. Attending the momo workshop gave us an insight to how we liked to design our bands, as we were more familiar with the designs, textures and engravings.”
Him: “It’s ok to make mistakes during the process. Believe in the process and most importantly, have fun with your partner.”
