This March, during our staff training trip to Japan, we unexpectedly crossed paths with J&J at a quaint café while they were enjoying their holiday in Nagano. Delighted to discover that know that they were fellow Singaporeans, our co-founder, Fujimori san, struck up a conversation with them about KOBO and the services we offer.
Before parting ways, we took a photo to capture the joyful moment and shared a laugh about how there were more Singaporeans than Japanese in such a rural part of Japan.
Fast forward to today, we are thrilled to have J&J join us in crafting their lifelong keepsakes where they actively participated in the ring making process —

Moments captured during the workshop session —
During the session, the couple began by choosing personalized engravings —letters and emojis — to make their bands unique. To add a special touch, they decided to craft each other’s rings.
After engraving, they moved on to annealing, where they softened the metal using a blowtorch. Next came a ‘mini workout’ for their fingers as they manually rounded the rings with pure strength. Once the rings were shaped, the couple soldered the ends together and sanded the surface to remove any scratches.
Hammer texture were added by striking the rings with a rounded hammer. J&J even had fun experimenting with the sounds created during the process, filling the studio with joyful echoes of jingle bells, warmth and laughter.
The finished product was a pair of platinum bands featuring a hammered texture and their October birthstone, Tourmaline, symbolizing the significance of their wedding anniversary.
J & J’s Wedding Rings — Each detail encapsulating their love and commitment
A few insights from the couple to those who are interested in making your own memorable keepsakes:
- What inspired you to craft your wedding bands yourselves?
“We’ve been actively searching for ready-made and off-the-shelf rings but couldn’t find any designs that really caught our eye — they all seemed quite similar.
After a chance encounter in Sakuho, we returned to Singapore and started looking into jewellery-making workshops. We chose KOBO for its Japanese background, along with the classic design styles and finishes they offer. That’s when we decided to craft our own rings!”
- What were the most memorable moments during the ring-making session?
Joey: “Soldering! It was magical watching the ends of the ring glow bright red and fuse together.”
Jasper: “Texturing! It was so satisfying to see the patterns emerge with each hammer strike, and the crisp sound made it even more enjoyable.”
- What emotions did you experience throughout the process, from start to finish?
“Excited! Today is the day we craft our own wedding bands together! We loved the peaceful atmosphere of the studio and the music played during the session—it made the experience even more special.”
- What do you hope to remember or feel when you look at your rings in the future?
“The memories created in Sakuho and beyond make this journey feel like it was destined to happen at just the right moment. Truly, 缘分 haha.”
