A Perfect Fit β€” Finding the Perfect Ring Size

KOBO Bridal Viewing Session

2025 – 05 – 01

[ For Gift Giving ]

We’ve been receiving inquiries from customers eager to surprise their loved ones with a heartfelt giftβ€” a handmade ring. We understand that determining the right ring size can be a bit of a challenge.

Ring sizes aren’t universally standardized, but at KOBO, we follow Japanese sizing guidelines. Don’t worry, you can easily find online resources to convert US, UK, or HK ring sizes into Japanese equivalents.

Here are some helpful tips and recommendations:

METHOD 1 | Measuring an Existing Ring β€”

  • Choose a ring that fits comfortably on the intended finger.
  • Place the ring on a piece of paper, and carefully trace the inner circle of the ring.
  • Measure the diameter of the traced circle by measuring from one opposite point to another using a ruler.

Please note that when using this method, it’s essential to consider that wider rings tend to fit more snugly than thinner ones. For rings with a width exceeding 3mm, we often recommend sizing the ring up to ensure a comfortable fit. Alternatively, sneak the ring out and we can assist in measuring the correct ring size for you!

METHOD 2 | Measure Ring Size Using a String, Paper or Ribbon β€”

  • Take a piece of string, paper, or ribbon.
  • Wrap it gently around the finger where you intend to wear the ring.
  • Ensure that it’s snug but not too tight, as you want a comfortable fit.
  • Mark or cut the string, paper, or ribbon where it overlaps to form a complete circle.
  • Lay the measured string, paper, or ribbon flat and use a ruler to measure the length in millimeters.

Lay the measured string, paper, or ribbon flat and use a ruler to measure the length in millimeters.

Simply bring the measured string/ribbon to us and we will check the size for you. Keep in mind that this method may not account for the width of the ring, so for wider bands, consider sizing up for a more comfortable fit.

Tips

  • Borrow one of their existing rings (make sure it’s for the same finger!)
  • Visit a jewellery store to get their ring size professionally measured
  • Ask a trusted friend or family member for assistance
  • When in doubt, size upβ€”it’s easier to resize down than up
  • Avoid measuring when hands are cold or after a workout
  • Don’t forget about the finger joints β€” consider its size for a more accurate fit!

β€”

While the methods described above can provide a rough estimate of the desired ring size, we understand that there may still be instances where the fit is not perfect. But don’t worry! At KOBO, we’ve got you covered.

We offer a one-time free resizing service during the warranty period to ensure your ring fits well. If further resizing is required beyond that, we do provide the option for resizing at an additional cost β€” determined case by case basis.Β
